ATLANTA - Police say Atlanta rapper Slim Dunkin was killed Friday night in a music studio as the city was preparing to record a video.
Police said Major Keith Meadows, the rapper, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was fatally shot in the chest aft an altercation with another individual.

Meadows told The Associated Press on Friday that police force haven't been able to identify the shooter. He said that investigators were interviewing those who were inside the studio. He said 20 people were inside the small office-type building at the time of the shooting, which took locate roughly 5:30 pm, but they were in different places.
Police have not recovered the handgun that was used. Investigators remained at the scene late Friday evening.
"Right now we're just trying to determine who can .... Have seen that, really just trying to put the pieces together, "said Meadows." It seems that everyone saw something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything. "
Slim Dunkin had appeared on a number of songs with the rapper Waka Flocka Flame. The site reported that the rapper Mtv.com Monopoly brick Squad was on a track solo and recently released a mix tape of 20 tracks that featured Gucci Mane, Pastor Troy and Roscoe Dash.
"It appears that the victim was expected to do a photo shoot," said Meadows events Friday. "Before the video shoot took place, it appears that the victim and the suspect were involved in a verbal altercation. We do not know what the altercation was about. "
"The suspect produced a weapon, the weapon discharged once, striking the victim in the chest," said Meadows.
Meadows said the victim was in her early 20s and living in the Atlanta area.
Many fans were posting messages on the night of Friday on a Facebook page for the rapper.
The AllHipHop.com site last February described Slim Dunkin, a native of Detroit, as a talented up-and-forth with "a unique ability and his own lyrical style."
In an interview with the site, he describes himself as someone "trying to provide for his family by doing something for nothing just trying to beat the odds."
"I have no uncanny ability lyric I just know how to talk about what I went through and where I came," he said.
Asked what to expect from him in 2011, he replied: "Music, music, and music!"
