It was a merry Christmas for a NFL team, even if it did not
play on Sunday. The Atlanta Falcons are playoff bound, despite resting
comfortably at home on this feast day. Thank you to Green Bay Packers victory
over the Chicago Bears, the Falcons is a team joker, joining the Detroit Lions.
The Bears, on the extra hand, are eliminated from the playoffs - the proverbial
lump of coal in storage - after down to the Packers at Lambeau Field, 35-21.

Aaron Rodgers was usual, throwing for 283 yards and five
touchdowns before being lifted for Matt Flynn. Jordy Nelson and James Jones
each caught two touchdown passes; Nelson also led all receivers with six
catches for 115 yards. Jermichael Finley caught the first touchdown passes as
the Packers Rodgers took a lead they'd never give up.
Josh McCown is so admirable for the Bears from 242 yards and
a touchdown, but also throwing two interceptions. The Bears relied heavily on
Khalil Bell in a try to aim the force off of McCown, and it showed. Bell was on the mark of a
century, rushing to 121 yards, but failed to find the end zone, too.
Green Bay is now 14-1 heading
into the last week of act, with the loss last week in Kansas City serving as a stain on the record.
Atlanta locked
up with its offer in the playoffs, NFC is a single spot in question, with the
New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys play NFC East title next Sunday evening.
